Unfortunately, Mr. Vorpatril I don't have much skill in modifying footwear. I apologize for the inconvenience in that. Perhaps I might be able to assist in another capacity?
A collection of stories about Vorthalia the bold, a barrayaran folk hero will be on the floor in the middle of Harry's room. The stories are heavy on the honor and heavy on the bloodshed! They are fun for all ages! There's a note on top that says, property of Ivan Vorpatril.
[This takes him absolutely forever to send, because he's not dated in a very long time. He fell off the horse. Waited for someone who never came- who took advantage of the waiting. He still feels a little stupid. Doesn't know if this is an obligation or not.]
[But maybe if they have some things in common, it would be nice to be a little social again. He misses that.]
This is Kazuhira Miller, Personal Defense Specialist.
[That's a shitty introduction.]
[Does he ask him if he wants to meet? He can't just leave it there. That would be idiotic.]
They matched us. Maybe you can tell me more about how things work around here.
[ Admittedly he reads over the message a few times, eyebrow raised. It saves him the trouble of tracking Mr. Miller down on board but doesn't provide the luxury of in person reconnaissance. ]
Harry Hart, ship's Tailor.
[ Personal Defense Specialist. Which means he has some sort of combat experience most likely. Interesting. ]
I would be glad to help, Mr. Miller. I've been on board for three months now so I do know a few things.
[Her voice is thin, a little reedy. She sounds almost as though she'd been crying, maybe minutes before the recording started.]
Mister Hart! Ah, Mister Hart, Eggsy... [A beat.] Eggsy just left me a...a very touching gift. If you, if you know something he might like, or can describe someone he left behind for me so I can paint them for him, or, or something, that would be.
[A small box with this inside is placed at the foot of Harry's bed while he's at work. There's a note attached that has from Kazuhira Miller written on it.]
[ It's a few minutes before harry responds because he does take a little time to puzzle out what happened. Then he remembers the mug that turned up in his mailbox, supposedly from Miller.
Fucking hell. He knows who this was. And now he's going to have to purchase some mugs so he can hide that one. ]
That may have been a bit hyperbole. I do have several cups for tea.
I'm pretty sure I've got the right person, so- hi, I'm Ryan, I think I'm supposed to be helping you out?
But I'm not really sure how you do things or what you'd actually need an assistant for. If anything, I mean, it's fine if you don't! That's just what I'm apparently assigned to, I'm on cleaning duty too so you know, I've got that.
Considering the growth of the crew over the last two months I certainly would mind any help I can get. Most people only require small alterations to their uniforms, though there is the occasional problematic request that requires more effort.
I'll make sure to be particularly careful around this gentleman. Don't do anything foolish if you have any encounters with him. Best to play things safe.
On the morning of the 16th, Harry will receive a hypospray of fast-penta in his mailbox. It contains two doses and the only information accompanying it is the label affixed to the hypospray.
[ if you have any questions about fast-penta, feel free to comment to that page or hit me up at runawayballista. ]
[The words are awkward, more out of inexperience than insincerity; Zam doesn't usually have to apologize to people they shoot and/or blow up. They had considered not sending a message at all given how belated it would be, but they figure they may as well make an attempt to prevent any bad blood from the incident, even if there's no guarantee of success.]
Ms. Faber, I'm pleased that you're alright. Your sudden departure had me concerned. I took the liberty of storing your possessions in case you ever returned, I hope that wasn't out of line.
Excuse me. Would you happen to be the tailor I'm meant to assist? Or are job assignments as much of a charade as the contracts we've signed in the first place?
(OOC: if you don't mind purple text, let me know and she'll pick it up next tag.)

He didn't care about me.
People shouldn't throw me away. I did a good job. I was a good commander.
And I'm good at money. I could manage a business when I was 10.
And I'm pretty. He didn't give a fuck. He just ate his food. And the other one is here and he's being confusing.
I'm very drunk.
